When I create a blank Access file and attach it to an email message. My receipients get the following message when they try to download the file. I too get the same message when I email the attachment to myself.

Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.

Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security
problems. To open the file, copy it to your computer or an accessible network location.

I have been doing some searches and even looked at MS support page, but I am not having any luck. I have changed the securitiy levels under Internet Options and I have also added the computer's IP addresses to "Trusted sites". The computers are not on a network and my home computer is 98 operating system and the one at work is XP, in case that helps.

I just want to email the Access file between computers so I can alter the information. I am familiar with computers, but I am not a wizard. Thank you!

The recipient should SAVE the file on the hard drive first, then open it with Microsoft Access.

Eventually, the Access file will get TOO BIG to email back and forth. You will have to be diligent about using the Compact & Repair utility. Look under the TOOLS menu and check the Database Utility section.

When it gets too big for that, then you will have to compress the file in a ZIP folder and e-mail that.

there are couple of ways doing it you can zip it or winrar it. Or you can upload the file zipped to a share drive and download it that way or if both computers have a mutual share drive just move it that way.

It sounds like they are trying to open it directly from the email. Try saving the file to the hard drive first, then try opening it.

Access itself has a security feature. By default it is set to midrange settings. Change it to minimal than try. Hope this helped.

You may use the access query tool "Access Query Analyzer" at http://www.download5000.com/page25775.aspx , its'screenshot is http://www.download5000.com/screenshot25775.aspx , it allows you to visually build complete SQL scripts.
