Advance Fee Fraud is a biggy.
If you are selling something, the bad cashiers check is very common.

A scam is a trick used by unscrupulous people to gain the confidence of another with a view to extorting something of value from them. An email scam is trying to get money from someone, using email to contact them.

An email scam is a scam sent through email. It can look completely official from, say, a bank or Ebay...but it is a complete scam and asks you for you credit card number, your address, debit card pin number, etc etc etc. You must be careful and be sure to look at the URL the link is sending you to.
