My computor runs slow at times, ok at others, occasionally a box pops up and says internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I can click straight back on to internet and everythings fine again. Also my clock time alters irrationally. I have done quite a few system restores and had to reset the time afterwards but a week or so later its wrong. I'm on Telewest Broadband and have PC Guard set on Scheduled Scan and it doesn't report a problem, but if i run a manual virus scan it only gets to 80% complete and won't go any furthur. It won't report a problem and the only link that does anything on the page is 'back' which i eventually have to press and abort the scan. I've tried a few virus scans from various sites, they all seem to tell you you've got 200 spyware, 10 viruses etc, and this is free to this point, they then want money off you to get rid of them. Back to the question, is it a virus? and is there anywhere i can remove it FREE.

My computer just one day seemed to stop loading Cd's. I can't play games or install things from a Cd. It loads a flash drive and everything else seems to work fine. Even the disc drive comes out, but once you put a Cd in it will sound like its loading something then it will stop making sounds and nothing at all will pop up on the screen. The computer is a emachines Xp. Please help.

I'd like some software that I can edit digit photos with. I'd like one that allows me to:

Cut out the people and put them in a different setting
Paste someone's face over another's body
Make the entire picture black and white except for one object.

I'm looking to get a color laser printer in the near future. I mostly print B&W, but would like to occasionally print photos or other color documents. A combo machine would be great with a scanner, copier and fax as well. I'm familliar with HP brand-wise, but I don't really know what's out there. I am also considering inkjet, but the cartridge cost seems to outweigh the printer cost after a short while.

Yo I have just bought a new pc3200 512mb ram stick. On top of that I also have two other pc3200 ram sticks, one consisting of 512mb and the other 256mb. Since pc3200 is suppost to work at 400mhz speed, why is it showing on cpuz under memory frequency its only working at 133mhz. I understand that in ddr you multiply that number to get the correct frequency you are using, but that would only make it 266mhz, and that is pc2300. So why am i not using the full speed of my ram?

Also if this helps I would list all the ram sticks names and correct frequencys.

I've been trying to download Acrobat PDF files to my computer but they are taking FOREVER (like half an hour) for like 10 pages. Is there anything I can do to speed it up and what could be the problem? I have Fast Access DSL from Bell South and the web pages are downloading just fine. HELP!
