for video editing get an interl core 2 duo, unfortunatley i havent heard of any motherboards optomized for it right now, but they are easily the best cpu's out there right now for, well... just about anything. otherwise, i would say to get an amd x2 4000 or 4200 on a nice sli motherboard. though the main thing you want to consider is a video card. for the absolute best get a quadro fx4500, though that might blow your bank just a bit. I live in houston and get the oppurtunity to work down at nasa/jsc every now and again with my company and they use dual core xeons with a pair of quadro fx4000's in sli, but thats because they need lots of horsepower, plus they mod their chips so they go like 20 bagillion times faster than anything out there anyway.
Hope this helps!

Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.40GHz
or you could wait for core 2 duo

Also check out video cards if you are going to be doing video editing.
