When I try to start my computer, it says that Windows cannot start because 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system is missing or corrupted'. It says to reboot with the original XP disc and press 'r' at the first recovery screen, but I dont know what to do after that. I dont even have the CD. Does anyone have instructions for me, for when I get the CD?

Ok heres my problem. For some strange reason my laptop doesnt recongnize my CD/DVD drive. Its built in to my laptop, but when I go to My Computer, its not showing the CD/DVD Drive. I even tried going into Device Manager and scanning for new hardware but it didnt pick up the CD/DVD drive. Is this a hardware failure? I cant replace it because its built in to the laptop, my only choice would be to buy an external CD/DVD drive. How do I fix this problemPlease help!

I've had AVG for a year. Recently, it found many viruses on my computer and it keeps popping 3 boxes (AVG Resident Shield) on my screen every 5 to 7 minutes to tell me of a Virus Detected! Trojan Generic & Clicker and prompts me to either "ignore" "info" "heal" or "move to a vault". This is very annoying. How long will this go on and what can I do to cure what ever problems is causing this?

I used to use yorkphoto and loved it. friends could download hi-res pictures for free, i could buy cd's, prints and they were decent quality. Problem: I recently bought a mac and yorkphoto only uploads one picture at a time with macs. Too much time. I switched to snapfish where i can upload as many as i want, however, friends cannot download hi-res pictures for free. i need something else. help!

If you are connected to ISP number 1, and go into outlook and set your SMTP settings to ISP number 2's SMTP server/user/password settings, can you still send mail?

it, is there any way to retrieve it...this has happened to me countless time when typing several pages and I have lost many hours of time by having to retype and I can never remember how I said it the first time.

Why was her acct. dumped? I understand she had inactivity, but she should have at least been given a warning that she was in danger of losing all her info in her acct. Is a heads up to much to ask?We think that would be the fair thing to do. Give people a chance to get to their acct. My wife was out of the country and had no access to a computer in the remote jungles of Thailand. Is it possible for her to get her old info back?? If not, is it possible to give fair warning of impending loss so this does not happen to others? Or are you only bound by "what the policy says", with no leeway or quarter given?

I started off with a 30g iPod and 45g of storage on my desktop. Recently I bought a 60g iPod and uploaded close to 40g of music before running out of space. To remedy this I bought a 100g external drive (Maxtor). I want to transfer all my music files on the external drive along with the iTunes software but do not want to do this from scratch. How can I tranfer the music files from the desktop drive to the external drive along with the iTunes settings in order to keep tags and playlists etc?
