Problems with getting power to my laptop?

Okay this is most likely why it is not working, for the longest time I used my laptop like a desktop computer... you know keeping it on for LONG periods of time... it would heat up and yah.. (Yah I know it was a stupid thing to do) and after a while the laptop wouldn't work with out the power cord being plugged in; it would no longer run off the battery power. Also I had to start keeping it elevated by putting books under it or else it would just shut down on me, or if the plug fell out it would shut down on me. Also the light on the power card doesn't even light up anymore... so I can't even start up my laptop...

I am thinking two things are wrong with it, first the battery is probably bust and second the power cord probably needs to be replaced, I already got a new hardrive for it, so I don't think that is the problem. So do yah guyz think it is just the battery and power cord I need to replace or is there something else?

I am using a hp pavilion zx5000

Is this a good computer?

This is my first build. Is every thing compatable? How is the graphics card? all i play is sims2 BF2 HL2 Flight simulater.
Is it Vista-ready? Will it go fast? What do you think about liquid systems? Thank you so much!! P.S. should i spend the extra money and go with a seconed video card (SLI)

what's the best way to keep a computer from crashing?

it seems no matter what i do, my computer either freezes up or it just acts up and doesn't work, and then i have to go and get a new computer. then the same thing happens again.

Why would a thumbnail preview of a .jpg image differ from the picture once opened in an application?

I have some .jpg photos which a friend accidentally altered.

However, the thumbnail previews still look exactly the same as the original photo. But once you double-click the thumbnail to open it in Paint, or Windows Picture Viewer, or whatever application, it shows the alterations. If the thumbnail shows the original unaltered version, is there hope for restoring it? Any help would be appreciated! (Hope that this questions makes sense to folks w/ graphic experience!!)

Computer freezing?/?

alright well..my computer recently has been acting wierd..whenever im running like 2 programs or maybe 3..it all of a sudden just freezes...my mouse moves but it wont click on anything..for example..i was downloading some songs..then i closed aim..while closing..it froze...the only way i could do anything is if i hit ctr alt delete...and hold it down...doin that sometimes lets me restart...but i dont know if its crashing or what is up....

Er, Help Please?

You know when you save a website under your favorites? Well, you know how some of them have a little picture or logo next to them? Like Millserry.com: When you save it, it has a little M for the pic next to it. So, how do you get 1 of those for your site, so that when somebody saves it under favorites, there is a pic? SLi Question?

I'm looking at a motherboard that goes on about its SLi bits. Can anyone tell me though, even though it is designed for SLi (I have no intention of using two cards atm) coudl I use an ATi card? SLi is the nVidia standard but does this impact what I could put in the PCI-e x16 slot?

This will spark a war but what does everyone think? SLi or Crossfire?

Can anyone help me remove a trojan virus?

I do not have a credit card and so cannot purchase a removal programme, is there a free download that actually removes the virus instead of just scanning for it? Can I remove the virus manually?

I have a virus that will not allow me to system restore my computer. (It will go to pick a restore date but will not go further).Nor will it let me reboot my operating system. It will start the c.d. but then an error message to say window installer will not start.
