Because of the third of the Three Famous Gates. First there were the logic Gates. Then there was the Water Gates. Then came the Bill Gates. As you can see by the progression, Bill Gates and Logic Gates are entirely different subjects. And therefore, I respectfully submit that by exercising the first you will find that the third is the reason your question has no really logical answer. And of course, unless you're a conspiracy theorist, the second is as it always was, irrelevant.

You don't. You can shut it down using other ways. I presumed that "stop" meant to shut down the PC. You can use the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys, run command, TaskManager.

The "Start" button is just an easy option for users who aren't as tech savvy or just want to shut it down quickly. I always use.

As for the process, it helps Windows gently stop all running applications without damaging the OS or hardware layer

Start is simply the opening menu for other programs. I suppose it could be called many other things, or some brainy individual could come up with a program that alters the name when you have already started...but what would be the point? It would require a major effort for little or no return.

If you don't like the Start button you can change it to say whatever you want!
