You could also try to install the TV Tuner in your computer and connect the VCR to it with the TV cable.

I purchased a dazzle video card that came complete with software to do this.

This one has the added benefit of it lets you send video back from harddrive to vcr or tv so you can watch on TV!

There are machines available for sale (at Wal-mart) which will record a DVD from a VCR tape.

Yes. There are several programs for this purpose and you need a video capture card with an analog input. Some graphics cards have video capture included.
