I have turned the contrast and brightness up as far as they will go, but it just keeps getting darker. I can see in Word and Excel and this webside, but most websites look like someone is writing in black ink on a dark color, such as dark gray, dark red, dark purple. In order to read them, I have to copy the material and paste it to Microsoft Word. Can this be fixed or do I need a new monitor? If so, what kind? I have a Dell computer circa 2000 with Windows melinium edition.

My drive is about 47% fragmented, so I am trying to run the Windows Disk Defragmenter. It gets about 11% through and then says that it is completed, but if I analyze again, it says I am still fragmented. Has anyone seen this problem? Any suggestions?

I tried to erase it all. not by any special means,..all i did was in my Mac.. dump everything to the trash..this is an old computer i don't use anymore and i forgot how to reformatting and all that. But i'm afraid it might have some personal information, in fact it even has my full name as a USER.. and it might have passwords or things... Can i just open the Mac up and break the chips, or scratch them just to make it not work at all and thus erasing everything by doing that.. then dump it? What parts inside should i break?

I just bought this game and I can't get it to install. I put the cd in, the green light comes on but that's it. Nothing else happens. I took the cd out and went to into my computer and the cd rom isn't listed anymore. I reboot and the cd rom appears in the list of drives again. Any ideas as to what's going on and how I can fix it so I can play this darn game.??

I made the bootable cd using Nero Burning ROM thingy and i browsed the boot image file where the box that asked for it was and when it completed, i restarted the pc and it said something about
Caldera DR-DOS

and at the end of some text load there was a line that said
"[DR-DOS] A:\>"
and there was a keyboard cursor jst after the ">"

that's not what i wanted to happen=p what did i do wrong ?

I have a video ipod and i downloaded music and videos off of limewire and when i drag the video clips to my itunes from limewire some of the clips won't be attached to itunes but some others do. So, how come i can't get some videos on my ipod?

EVERYTIME I open Windows, I get a big message in the right-hand corner that says. "This software is not genuine windows", then it tells me to click on to address the issue. Whether I do or NOT, a large yellow banner across the top of the page (my carrier is "Earthlink") says "This page (the Earthlink home page??) may be a scam. Proceed with caution". I ignore it, figuring it's a sales pitch, then go ahead and type in the address I mean to go to. Then the banner goes away. This has happened since I went onto a couple of sites like Spybot to try to rid my computer of any errors that are slowing down my computer (by the way, according to this site, I have 90+errors, most unfixable without installing software). What's the deal?!

My roommate and I have a comcast cable modem. It works at about 50% speed than it should. Sometimes its slower than dial up. I use a cable to connect to the modem.

Its not my computer that would be the problem because when I'm at my friends house with my computer (Apple ibook) I use the AirPort to connect to his internet access and it works perfectly. Superfast.

What is the problem? Plus, comcast came out to look at it, they replaced that silver thing (I forget what its called), it still did no good.
