Why is my monitor turning dark?

Question

I have turned the contrast and brightness up as far as they will go, but it just keeps getting darker. I can see in Word and Excel and this webside, but most websites look like someone is writing in black ink on a dark color, such as dark gray, dark red, dark purple. In order to read them, I have to copy the material and paste it to Microsoft Word. Can this be fixed or do I need a new monitor? If so, what kind? I have a Dell computer circa 2000 with Windows melinium edition.

Sounds to me as if your monitor is going bad. These days, monitors - even flat screen ones - are not too pricy. I suggest offering the old monitor to a computer repair shop; they might be able to use some parts.

Do you have any speakers near your monitor, if so you might want to put then farther away from it.

Basically keep any magnets away from your monitor. And if this isn't the problem then chances are that you just need to ajust the brightness on your monitor

that happened 2 mee 1 time. i thought my lab tp wuz borken but it wuzznt.my "battery" plug got un-pluged 4 some reason.so u should check iff all yer wires/battery is low. if yer battery is low, that that is your problem.fix that with hibernating,or pulugining back dat plug.

Note:not every1 haz that plug.
