yes, its called a power button - turn it off when her time is up! use a password and a timer- when she gets on type in the password for her and when her time is up go and turn the computer off! She should not be on without adult supervision anyway and it is your responsibility to be aware of what she is doing, where and when. It's that simple

There has to be some type of program out there to do that but it would be a big hassle because you would obviously have to start and stop the time, in that case you might as well just set up a stop watch.

Don't worry about how long your 11yr old is on the computer just worry about what there doing on the computer. And at age 11 kids do alot of experiencing with new things so watch out and keep a lookout on your child. You might want to set up parental controls on your computer. But just try not to be to over protective because sooner or later, they have to go and experience things for thereself, in order to understand and make a better life for thereselfs.

I like the timer idea. I don't know of anything that can be put on the computer. Although, the libraries here have them. They have a 2 hour limit and once your 2 hours are up, it automatically clicks off. You're her mother, though so you should be able to control how long she's on the computer. Tell her that if she abuses it, then you'll take the computer away from her.

I am sure there is some kind of software available, but the best thing to do is for you to be the parent and monitor her. I would set a timer and just come in and turn off the computer when the time is up.

I'm not sure. You could always be right near her when she logs on and remember the time then remember when she logs off. And if she's sneaky and goes on when you're not home then take a piece(cord or something needed for it to turn on) of the computer and lock it somewhere(I did this to my computer when my sister would try to go on when I wasn't home).

3 hours a day??? Are you serious? That is way too much for an 11 year old. Especially if she is on the internet. It's not safe for kids without constant supervision.

Pull the plug. Period. Put a password on her computer that she needs YOU to unlock. Then when she is done with her 3 hours lock it up. She will need you again to unlock it before she gets back on. Easy Peasy. Good luck. Kids are difficult. You are doing the right thing. Kids are exposed to too much online.

If you can't tell her face to face, you can buy "time out" software. It has limits on how long a person can be on that computer. After that time period the software cuts the internet connection. Sorry,I don't know where you can buy it. You can try google...

I use a good old fashioned baking timer. When it goes beep, I start yelling for the kids to get off the computer.
