I will be using this laptop for school purposes, chating with friends, and surfing th internet. Please give me good advise with a good deal on a laptop! Details on what I should look for would be grately appritiated!!!

It comes up when I mistype an url, when I hit search in the tool bar, and when I right click a link, but I don't recall downloading anything or agreeing to any changes. I use google, I just don't know where it came from.

I got AOE3 and the graphics are screwy. The game loads and plays and the menus are fine, but the game's actual graphics are screwed. If I move to a different section of land where there are no people, it works sometimes too.

My graphics card doesn't support Hardware Transformation and Lighting, which is a requirement of the program. Is there any way to fix this or should I just give the game away?

If I want to backup really important files that I would never want to lose, such as digital photos and songs from a very memorable moments, would burning them to DVD, a reliable option? Do they really get corrupted after a long time? What if I get a high quality DVD and store it in the case all the time?
How about external hard drives? Do they get erased too?

Husband says he has bought 2 computers from pawn shops and one was a laptop that worked good and fast. I am not familiar with pawn shopping and the 30 day guarentee and used merchandise scares me for such a purchase. What are your thoughts?
