Right click on your task bar (the one at the bottom) and click "toolbars" then click on "quick launch" The Little blue icon with a picture of a square and pen will be the shortcut to your desktop. If it doesn't appear in the task bar straight away then click on the double arrows and drag the desktop icon down into the task bar. Then when you want to go to your desktop just click on the icon. xx

There's a little symbol on the task bar, usually next to the Internet Explorer symbol. Click that and it opens your desktop without closing anything else.

what feudalserfer said - in XP there's a little icon that likes to live in the quicklaunch taskbar. To show that, rightclick the taskbar, go to toolbars, and check the quicklaunch thing. There's a little icon like a blue square with a nail in it - hover it, it will say Show Desktop. Click that

Turn on the feature on your taskbar which says show Desktop. If you are using XP then it is a default feature which is turned on at taskbar. In addition you can right click on taskbar and from there you can select Show Desktop.

if you have windows xp, right click on a blank spot on the status bar with the start button and choose show desktop.
or if you have a show desktop button on the quick launch, then press that.

hold alt and the key with arrows going left and right down then pick the window u want open
