Make sure your pawn shop is reputable and you are not buying your neighbors stolen laptop. LOL That is always my first concern. Feeding the thief. However It would also scare me to buy something of that nature because it doesn't really mean any thing to have a 30 day warranty any more. Its that 31st day that your power supply goes out. Dell has some really cheap warranted laptops. Just a thought

I bought my laptop from a pawn shop and I don't have no problem with it except I don't have a battery so I am thinking about getting a new one.Treat a pawn shop like any other store: check the product before buying it, ask the clerk if they think you should buy it because most clerks will be honest with you, see if everything is there when you buy it like the battery, the power cord, and the laptop itself. Whenever you aren't familiar with something ask about it like the 30-day guarantee and/or if used merchandise scares you ask your hubby about it because he has more experience with you and it is never a bad thing to ask questions.

It's risky. There is no warranty and who knows what kind of return policy there is with the pawn shop (probably none).
I wouldn't spend more than $150 (and that's already high) and I'd only buy if I'm allowed to test the equipment. If you're good with computers, you'd be able to see what kind of stuff is installed in the laptop (hardware and software). Don't buy if they don't let you test it.
You'd be better off buying refurbished laptops from a place like Overstock.com or Dell Outlet.

NO! Pawn shops don't usually specialize in technology, they specialize in money extraction from desperate people. Go with Dell or another affordable new computer- the hardware and software will be up to date and probably faster than the pawn shop choices.
