I drive a 5-speed '87 Firebird T/A ... what should and shouldn't I do? What can I avoid doing (other than riding the clutch and grinding the gears) that will hurt the car? What CAN I do to make it a smoother ride? I have my on and off days ... some people tell me to press the clutch all the way down when shifting, others say to find the "catch point" or the sweet spot.

Help me out here.

I'm asking this on behalf of my sister. She took her driver's test a year ago and failed because when she got on a highway on-ramp, she sped up to around 50 mph or so, so she could merge with traffic. The instructor failed her for this, saying that you have to go 35 mph through the entire length of the on-ramp and speed up once you begin to merge.
This doesn't make sense to me. I always thought that as soon as you get on the on-ramp, you try to speed up to the speed of highway traffic so you can merge and not be a danger.
Does anyone know what, officially, you're supposed to do? She's preparing to take her test again and this is really bothering her.

Could a boats radio communicate with a small aircraft like a Cessna 172, and also vice versa. Could an aircraft radio communicate with a boat if tuned to the correct frequency. The example boat would be something like a Fairline Targa 47.

I am about to make a move to California and currently own a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I still have a little over a year to pay on it but need to save as much money as possible right now. I am looking to trade it in for a used car that is reliable, somewhat roomy, and with good gas mileage. I have looked into both Honda and Toyota but am considering all options. I want the price to be $12,000 or less. I hate to part ways with the Sport Trac, but my budget tells me otherwise. I am not looking for a family car since this will be for me only. Any suggestions?

I was born in June, and I'm 17. I'lll take written test in couple days and I'm positive that I'll pass the test and get permit. However, some of my friends told me that because I'm under 18, so I have to hold my permit for six months before taking driving test.

Is that true ???? Even if I took a driving class in AA driving school ??

Is that true, and is there any way that I can take driving test sooner ???

Please help me !!!

My husband has his class A permit for a CDL in Ohio. Does anyone know where he can go to get paid to train, or of a company that will hire him on just a permit and train him while he works so that he can get time driving without actually going to a truck driving school? It doesn't matter where in the country it is, or anything like that, he just wants to get his CDL without going to school for months and not getting paid.

I was watching some NHRA top alcohol competition and was amazed how those funny cars launched; rev'd high before they were even staged, then roll in to staged. Seems like that would burn up any type of clutch...

When you are buckling your seatbelt and pull it out far it locks. It'll only go shorter and shorter and you must unbuckle the entire thing to loosen it. What is the purpose of locking seat belts at a certain length? To me it's just annoying.

I have a '99 Pontiac Grand Am with engine problems and very minor body problems. I haven't driven it in a while but I know it doesn't run very well. Should I try to just sell it or give it away for a tax write off? If I do give it away what is the best place to give it to? THANKS!
