My husband has his class A permit for a CDL in Ohio. Does anyone know where he can go to get paid to train, or of a company that will hire him on just a permit and train him while he works so that he can get time driving without actually going to a truck driving school? It doesn't matter where in the country it is, or anything like that, he just wants to get his CDL without going to school for months and not getting paid.

He car hire on with any of the big companies: Schneider National, CR England, Swift, JB Hunt, etc - they will train him and pay him during training.

CR England will send him a bus ticket to Utah, and the next time you see him he'll be a truck driver.

Go to Greyhound Lines. They will train you and pay you (minimal until after training, but then you get a bonus). HOWEVER, it's only a CLASS B license. This is something you should thinnk about and apply NOW!, since it takes time for them to check up on you, before asking you to train. Also, training usually starts in the spring.
