I got my eyes set on a ninja 250. I'm only 5' and 110lbs. taking the motorcycle safety class in april. been reading a lot on motorcycles. i want a sportsbike.
would you guys recommend the ninja 250 as a started bike than the 500? I know a lot people say that I'll drop it a few times in the first year. but some say go ahead and get the 500. I don't think I need a faster bike to start with. what do you think??

I wondered how difficult it might be to shift the gears, throttle, brake, and balance. It looks as if a great deal of concentration takes place here. I'm considering to learn, but do not know what type of machine I should learn on.

Race take offs are race tires that the racers discard and some people put on their bike for street use. They are usually very cheap and appeal to the younger folks who have less money. Do you feel race take offs are safe? Better? Dangerous? Stupid?

I currently ride a Yamaha YZF-R6. The seat height for this bike is 32.3". I am interested in purchasing another bike that has a seat height of 35". I am able to flat foot on my R6, but just barely. The seat for the other bike is more narrow than the one on my R6. Would I still be able to sit flat foot if the seat is more narrow?

I'm working on getting a kawasaki 440 ltd running but so far no luck. I've got it in neutral, fuel in the tank, starting fluid in the carbs, choke open... but nothing.

I've managed to get it started once but as soon as I let off the starter button it died...

Any suggestions as to how to get it started and kept started?

Hi, I am looking to buy a new bike, and the supplier said they can post it but it comes with the front wheel & handlebars dissconnected. Does anyone know if this is easy to put together. I am fairly handy at this kind of stuff but have never done it on a vehicle that I am going to ride on the streets of london!! Does anyone know if I took it to a garage 'roughly' how much it would cost.
Thanks
Dannie

Been riding since the 60's. Hardcore bikers kept HD alive during the 70's. Now they want nothing to do with us. All they care about is selling t-shirts, jewelery and "motorclothes" to the posers FTF

Considering the Season is beginning this weekend in Daytona!! Moto GP is here too!!! Come on Yahooooo. We are not second class race fans here. Even Hemingway would agree that 'racing is a sport while everything else is a game'!

I am completely new to the motorcycle world, and just decided a few days ago that I would like to start looking into what it would take realistically to buy a motorcycle. I dont really know where to begin so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good websites to check out or any tips for a first time buyer. I am curious what manufacturers make the best product and what I am going to be looking at spending to get a reliable bike.

I am taking the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Course this upcoming spring break and I am already looking for a nice starter cruiser bike. I have some parameters that will influence my choice:

-Under $6,000
-Must be able to handle Chicago Interstate and country highway without getting sucked under semi's or blasted by wind
-At least 490 cc

Currently I am looking at the Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD and the Honda Shadow VLX, but leaning more towards the Vulcan in terms of price and highway handling. Can I get some reviews/suggestions?
