sand will make the job take forever you nedd some shot. i had the same problem with a tank i had, pain in the butt for sure. grab a six pack and shake it baby.....take your time and do it right. make sure to rinse the tank out well before putting back on your bike.

I've heard for years that you guys would rather push your Harley's than ride a Honda. Enjoy your trip. Remember for every uphill there is a downhill just over the top, so you will be able to ride half the time!
Take the tank off, Fill half full with fine clean sand, put cap on, shake like crazy(the tank), may try a hardware store and see if you could protect it with rags and clamp in a paint shaker, poor sand out, rinse thoroughly, if you use water get some WD40 and finish the rinse with it as it will get all the water out, reinstall on Sportie and meet me in Sturgis in August and tell me if it worked
