I got my eyes set on a ninja 250. I'm only 5' and 110lbs. taking the motorcycle safety class in april. been reading a lot on motorcycles. i want a sportsbike.
would you guys recommend the ninja 250 as a started bike than the 500? I know a lot people say that I'll drop it a few times in the first year. but some say go ahead and get the 500. I don't think I need a faster bike to start with. what do you think??

I'd rather learn in small pieces. I'm getting a 250 and also taking the MSF class in April (first time rider). I don't like the look of the 500s anyway, plus the 250 is cheaper.

The 250 is fine, especially since youre so small, they will do just about 100mph topped out so they go pretty good when you really rev them out. You will probably drop it a few times. This and the vtr250 honda are about the least intimidating sportbikes you can buy. There is always a market to resell your 250, as there is always more beginners.

i own a 250R and you are the perfect size to ride this bike. Seat height is low and the bike itself is very light. You really are not going to get tremendous speed with either one so go with your own visual appeal.
