What does shimming mean? What is it used for and how do you do it? Where can i fint a video that teaches you how to do a top and bottom end rebuild? I am a nobbie. I'm a bit confused. Japanese manufacturers make very similar looking/sounding/feeling cruisers as Harley-Davidson. However, the reliability of the Jap. bike is much higher than the American one (reflecting the automotive industry). The thing that differs from the auto industry is the American bike is grossly more expensive than the Jap one.

Is it really just heritage/patriotism that's keeping these Harleys on the road? I'm sorry, that seems silly to me.

I just replaced the front brake disc and pads on my bike, but it makes a clak noise that stops when I slightly pull the brake lever.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

I can set something up so I can have music on my bike with a discman or iPod WITHOUT having to install a big ugly fairing to hold the speakers. All I can come up with is using a set of 12 volt computer speakers with plastic zipties on the handlebars or downtube. Problem with that is on the handlebars it would take away from the look of my bike and on the downtube the heat from the engine would melt them and on the highway the zipties would just break from the wind speed. I also do not want to drill any holes in my handle bars or frame.

I fell a couple of years ago at about 30MPH on a freeway off ramp when somebody cut me off. but i just slid to a stop and got back off and walked away, i guess i was lucky.
