Years ago while cruising home from work on my Yamaha XS1100, i whipped past some co-workers in a stupidly calculated "show off" attempt on a two lane road. When i passed them and got back in lane i was at about 60 mph, and a car was coming at me with his brights on (it was dark). When the car passed me i was temp blinded and forgot about a sharp almost "L" shaped left turn coming up. I panicked and hit the brakes and tried to downshift, but the rear wheel somehow locked up completely and the motor died. The bike was sideways for what seemed like an eternity but i managed to keep it on the road. But i was coming up to the "L" and had nowhere to go but straight on! I had no idea what i was going to do but i knew coming to a standing stop was not a possibility at this point. Here's the weird part - At the point i should have laid the bike down and scrubbed myself all over the pavement, i remember NOTHING! the next moment i was standing there with my helmet in my hand, the bike laid down and apparently slid into an 8 by 8 fencepost on the underside of the bike, and other than a tweaked front fork that was fixable , not a scratch on bike or me. THAT taught me a lesson for sure , but what happened in those last few milliseconds must have been something like an unseen hand pulling me to safety, only way i can reason it.

No, I crashed.
1) Hit a submerged rock in a deep puddle on a dirt road. Tossed over the bars into the puckerbrush. Couple scratches on me, broken fork stop, pinch bolt punched a hole in the gas tank 16 yr. old factory paint looked new 'til then.
2) Hit black ice and started to go down. Brought it back up somehow, but too much and went over the other way. Slid down the road with the bike chasing me. Helmet never touched, couldn't find any new scratches on my jacket, bent handle bar.
3) Woman in a white car pulled out directly in front of me. Panic locked both brakes and slid straight into her (10 ft,). Tore the windscreen off with my chest, crazed 1/2 her windshield with my skull, smashed in her fender and bent the hood a little. Bike was damaged enough to total it. I was bruised and sore. Like a true single-minded moron, when I got out of the E.R. I went straight to the accident scene and RODE that pretzel home.

I wound up losing my job due to the damage to my wrists (more than a bruise) and took a lower paying one at a different place. I now make more than 1 1/2 times what I used to, and other things are better too.
Maybe I'm lucky?

in case you realize the thank you to do it, you will no longer tip over while table certain. Racers call that a music stand. yet - that is complicated. Very. each now and then, a analyze team at some college makes somewhat progression on that difficulty. issues that come into play are: - the attitude of the steerer tube - the area between the axis of the steerer tube and the front wheel hitting the floor - rotational momentum of the front wheel - top of the middle of gravity in fact, whilst driving, the rider continously makes adjustments to maintain the motorbike from tipping over, i.e. rides in a wavey line. driving precisely right away is amazingly complicated - try cycling on a 4" huge board, as an occasion. the swifter you're and the better your middle of gravity is, the smaller is the attitude with the aid of so you might bring about gain this result. while status nevertheless, steerage has (almost) no result on moving your middle of gravity on the line between the two wheel touch factors - that's once you tip over.

just before christmaas came off bike @ about 60mph crushed my right hand took skin off to the bone broke fingers knuckles wrist and arm.right leg and gravel rash ,wow that hurts . i hit a barrier that sent me into the cental reservation. when i had stoped bouncing i too managed to stand and other motorists moved my bike and closed the road until ambulance came.i was lucky any other day but sunday i could have been dead. but what happens in spain if you dont hit anyone the vehicle stas at the sice of the road until you pick it up. unfortunatly it got stolen in that time although not a lot left insurance wouldnt pay cos it was stolen but would have paid for the accident....... strange eh

sorry long story

I was following my ex husband once. He was coming home from a friends on his bike. He came to a stop light and forgot to put his feet down. He fell right over. The cops were sitting across the intersection and saw it all. He went to jail that night for DUI. I went home to bed..

Yeah, couple times. A few times it was thinking my BMW (touring bike) was supposed to be able to do double-duty as a dirt bike (got in deep gravel once, deep sand another time, and a little off-road incident. Was layed down over 90 degrees, fun uprighting the S.O.B., by myself yet!). Another time I got T-boned by a cager, JUST saw me in time to not run me flat over, but I was pretty wobbly there for a few yards til i got it pulled over, foot hurt like a damn as it took part of the blow. We worked out a cash deal for fixing the bike (peg and a side cover) plus a few bucks for my trouble. Foot was fine.

yep, i have, it was the mistake of not being completely off the front break when endering gravel. I washed the front. luckily i wasnt going very fast. leather gloves protected my hands

I have watched my S/O crash several times, going as fast as he could in a controlled environment. aka, Racing. he got up everytime.

Gear is a must. a scuff in your 400$ helmet and/or leather jacket is better than a hospital bill anyday.
