I love the V-star Midnight Custom, but it doesnt feel as fast as powerful as the Shadow Spirit 750 I had before, whats the cheapest and best way to boost engine performance to where i can overtake a car or get out of a potential problem on the highway?

the carb '07's from the factory is gonna be set very lean. would be best to richen it up a bit either with a rejet, or recal the ecm. i belive that almost all bikes in the 07 model year is now fuel injected per epa regs...i know harley is as of '07. the new bikes i have seen have an o2 sensor in the pipe....another emission bs thing mandated by epa.

if u really want to get it running top notch, u should have it put on the dyno and get it dialed in perfect on the air/fuel mix. hyperchargers are more hype than anything. a arlen-ness air cleaner assembly would be more cost effective. those hyperchargers are not cheap, and u did say u wanted the cheapest way....do u really want to spend almost 300 or more for a hypercharger? u could get about 5 runs on the dyno machine practically for the cost of 1 hypercharger....$60 an hr in my area for dyno time.

the brand new bikes are coming from the factory at an almost too lean condition. not only does this make them run hot, a yugo has more power. ya need to richen it up a bit and put on a bigger air cleaner. check to see if it has an o2 sensor in the pipes. i saw the new harley's having that on them. its from the epa reg's. hypercharger's are a waste of money. u could get alot of dyno time for 1 of those worthless hyperchargers.

Ellwood's anwser was right on..There is alot of power waiting to be unleashed inside your bike. Yamaha has to restrict its full power in the U.S. market to meet clean air standards, fuel efficiency, and noise levels for the typical generic rider.
Check out the links below for some cool upgrades, starting from the cheapest to the most expensive.

I agree with Ellwood, but why buy a 650 when they make the same bike in an 1100, which has the power you want?

Re-jet the carb add a hypercharger & aftermarket pipes....is a good start.
