Shimming valves? Then engine work like that is advanced mechanics. Shims are sometimes required to readjust valve clearance as the machine is driven over time. Rebuilding engines requires serious tools that you will not find at Sears. Take a mechanics interest course at your community college or at least buy a mechanics textbook before opening your engine. Manufacturers sell shop manuals to mechanics for each of their makes and models. Spend the $75. Its at the least worth the knowing what's beyond your experience.

A video will only show you how to do something.
A shop manual will "tell" you how to do it and what you need to know (like specifications, what to check, direction parts are to be installed, etc).
