How long does it take you and what state are you in? It takes me 90 minutes to get to work everyday and I hate it. I am curious to see what people have to go through in their commute and the difference between states.

You're approaching a roundabout and there's two lanes.

The left hand lane is all choked up with cars, but the right hand lane is pretty clear.

You approach the roundabout in the right hand lane even though you want to go left or straight over.

You drive onto the roundabout in the right hand lane and drive ALL the way around it and move over for your chosen exit.

You get to exit without having had to sit in the jammed up left hand lane!

Do any of you do this? I can't believe the amount of drivers who just sit in the traffic jam when they could be moving!

I'm going to be trading in my car in a few months and I want an SUV. I'll be driving four hours to go home on the weekends so I want something that has a good safety rating but I also want decent gas mileage. Any suggestions?

I used to always travel by train. but there have been so many changes, I do not want to look like a tourist. Can you give me a heads up? I will arrive by mid noon, and I will depart in the afternoon.

In all the cars I have ever owned, the turn signal has made an annoying loud clicking noise that can be heard even over the radio. Are there any cars out there for which this is not the case? There was this SUV on the freeway this morning with their turn signal on for miles. It reminded me of all the times I have seen this. I hate these people, they are so dangerous, because the surrounding cars don't know what to do and get all confused. Just when you think the signal is on by mistake, they could jerk in front of you and cause an accident. But given that it was on for miles this time, I think it was a mistake. But how on earth is that possible? Are deaf people allowed to drive?

I've heard that the less gas you have, the harder your car has to work and gussles more gas. Is that true?

as an example, here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the going price for regular is between $3.25 to $3.50 per gallon, how is it in your town? I thought this would show the wide variety of prices around the world, what do you think?

Just curious if anyone else is as fed up with people's drving habits as I am! My top 3:
1. People passing on the right from the parking/right turn lane.
(I do my best to run them in to the next parked car!)
2.People making U-turns at traffic light intersections.
THIS IS ILLEGAL, People!
3. The dreaded talking on the phone while driving. Nothing is that important. If it is, PULL OVER!

Joe is driving from his home in Alpha to a city down the Interstate 200 miles away where the Alpha Lions have a football game. The route is not a straight line, however. He will drive west for 120 miles, then south for 60 miles, then east for the last 20 miles.

However, Joe's roommate Pete does not believe the Interstate is the way to go, since the distance from Alpha to the game is fewer miles by regular highway and city streets than by the Interstate. Pete knows he cannot drive quite as fast, but believes he can get to the game quicker going his direct route.

Joe thinks Pete is overly optimistic, reminding him of the stop lights, school zones and traffic along the way that will slow him down.

If Joe averages 60 mph on the Interstate, what will be Pete's average speed have to be to make good on his goal of being at least as quick to the game as Joe?

Assume that Pete's route is a straight line from Alpha to the game. Tell me how you did the calculation.

Its easy I think to be speeding on a odd occasion as often the speed limits are not displayed clearly or at all and they change often. Its easy to do. Buying a detector will stop losing my license and stop increasing the burden on the overstretched trains if I did. What do you think?

My wife may be traveling by train 6 hours on Amtrak in California. I have a friend picking her up on the other end. Some people think I'm crazy for letting my wife go by herself and not driving her down. I don't see the problem but maybe I'm wrong. Is it safe to send her on a train by herself? Is it sane?

PS - she's a smart and independent woman).

opinions??

I was stuck behind a 20-something year old girl today in the left lane for about 20 minutes going barely over 65. All she had do to was get over to the right lane since there was no way to pass her from the right, but yet I sat behind her for about 15-20 mintues while she was busy yappin away with the other girl in the car.
