Those are my only options. It's Ohio highway traffic, mostly 4 lanes, I-75.

Which day would be more congested? I'm guessing wednesday driving will be worse, because hopefully all the normal people are already at their destinations by thanksgiving morning.

For over 10 years I walked to work and now find myself with a 60 mile round trip commute. I cannot tell you how much I hate to be on the highway. Drivers are so inconsiderate and distracted that I fear for my safety everyday.
Here, in no particular order are the things that annoy me most, on the road:

1. Not driving on the correct side of the road: Don't laugh, every day I see people heading straight at me as if they are trying to play "chicken". When did the middle of the road become a lane? Or when did the correct way to drive down the highway become with two tires on the lane divider?
2. Never using signal lights
3. Using signal lights improperly. I love when people turn on their signal DURING a turn.
4. Blocking the passing lane
5. Slowing down, because your exit is 2 miles away
6. Swinging out to make a turn when it is clearly not necessary to do so.
7. Failure to stop/make way for pedestrians
8. Purposely trying to startle cyclists/pedestrians.

The price of a litre of unleaded petrol at my local Tesco (normally the cheapest in the area) has risen by 5p in just over a week.
The price of petrol is rapidly reaching the point where people can no longer afford to go to work - if the public transport system was up to scratch then this would not matter, but it isn't. And over 80% of the cost of petrol on the forecourts goes directly to the government as taxes! What are they doing with it?

After the last blockades of fuel depots the government made it illegal to do so again.

My question is this: I'm willing to risk getting arrested blockading a fuel depot if in the long run it stops my government from robbing me blind.

Are you?

Or do you have a better idea?

And for you environmental-types - if you have a better way for me to get to work from Essex to London then I'm all ears.

I live in Phoenix Arizona, where the smog is unbearable..I have a 2005 GMC Sierra (no i dont want to downsize, or buy a new hybrid vehicle, im too bonded with my truck) and am really considering having a conversion done to help with this big issue. I try to carpool as much as I can but I cant take the live karaoke in my passenger seat 5x a week anymore. The only problem is I cannot find a local place to do it, i've been researching for a few weeks and the best opinions i've heard is to buy the kit online now and worry about install later..and I'd like to have it all covered at the same time. So anyone who can help me out with this, tell me pro's, con's, and most of all where I can get this done at! thanks so much!

since we just changed from Daylight savings time to
standard time
how does work when suppose you were at a bus
station and the bus was to arrive at 2:00am (lets say the time
we have to change the clock back a hour
what time will 2am bus arrive then? at 1:00am?
then a similar question
(when we change back to DST
the train is due at 2:00am but the clock goes forward
an hour does that mean I missed the bus
or the 2:00am train become a 3:00am bus?

I am not looking for abuse here. I am a very fat 620 pound man who takes the bus to and from work. In the evening, the bus is usually crowded and if no one gives up a bench, the bus driver always nicely suggests that I can use the handicap seating. That always gets me stares and jokes from some passengers which I don't mind. I know my size will always make some people make fun of me. I just want to make sure it is OK to use the seats. I have given it up for a truly hanicapped person and luckily a bench opened at the same time. I cannot fit in the row seats anymore. I just started taking the bus due to a job change and it is easier for me than driving and parking - less costly. Thanks for your thoughts.

Do you people out there really hate cyclists so much or is it just a guilt reaction by people who know how unhealthy their own transportation choices are but can't admit it?

If you hate cyclists so much, why? I'm not demanding that everyone do what I do, but I am suggesting that more people could and could enjoy it and reap some significant health and monetary benefits at the same time.

Comments and opinions welcome.

In Singapore, the public transports are:

(1) Bus -
a. Payment by Cash
You need to use the exact amount, as no change will be issued.

b. Payment by ez-link Card (stored-value card)
To top up the Ezlink Card, you can do so at any TransitLink Ticket Office. The minimum top-up value is $10, while the maximum stored value allowed is $100. You can also top up your card using cash or NETS at Add Value Machines and General Ticketing Machines (GTMs) in MRT stations and bus interchanges.

(2) MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) / LRT (Light Rail Transit)
- Only use ez-link Card.

(3) Taxi
- We use cash or Credit Card.

At my current size (very round and wide at 6'3" and 620 pounds) I am a slow walker and have to be very careful when I get off and on my bus for work since it is easy to lose my balance as my weight shifts. Both bus drivers on my routes are very nice to me, save open bench seats so I can fit and keep offering me the use of the hydraulic handicap lift if I want. So far I have managed well. I usually get on and off last if there is a line so I don't hold anyone back and so they don't make any fat jokes. Since I keep getting offered the lift, I don't know if the drivers are just being nice or think it would be faster to put me on the lift. I have no problem walking on my own even if I am slow. It takes a lot to move this weight and I have to take my time.
