Yes.

Price has gone up a lot in the last four years and people are still buying it at (almost) the same speed as before. Therefore, there is still lots of room for increase.

Despite what they claim, people are not yet annoyed...

If people who commute alone in their cars suddenly decided to commute four per car (dropping gas sales by almost 75%), you'd see some action.

lemonpro is correct. Oil companies do use the news as a barometer. If the news that gas would go up to 4 bucks has not started riots, then they have prepared public opinion (announcing it in advance reduces the 'surprise' effect and increases resignation). We may not like it, but that is how it works.

I heard that it will reach $4 a gallon by the end of the year. Here in Oregon it is about $3.18 and rising every other day. I sure hope not though!!!

I believe it will based on the fact the news had said it will so the Gas company's have to do what the new says so not to let them down. The news offers an opportunity to the Gas company's to raise the prices because the news said it would and now the public expect it. God Bless
