Did you know that when ARCO advertises gas for $2.55 per gallon you actualy pay $2.60 per gallon if you buy 9 gallon of gas. It is because you have to pay a .45 cent charge if you use an ATM or Credit card, Thrifty just started the same RIP OFF. Shell and Mobil dont do that.

When it's serious 3 lane gridlock with no escape, I just put on a rap cd while chuging along at 2mph. Anyone have any other ideas?

I hear how people talk about Tampa and the surounding area having so much traffic, they make it sound like it's as bad as New York... I might be moving down there from New York and wanted to know how bad the traffic really is for the tampa, clearwater, Lutz, Hyde Park, Carrollwood, Plant city, etc.

Thanks!

Suppose you had to go to work in a horse and buggy or a
model T 25 mph. The speed limit is 35, you go 45 but yet
cars fly pass. The thing about it is you always catch up with them at the next red light. Their rush has accomplished nothing. A preacher said as he stood beside the bed of many dying patients, none said,"I wish I worked five jobs and didn't
have time for you.

It's like,
Al: What gas mileage does your truck get?
Jon: 15 mpg.
Al: Mine's more efficient than yours! I have a 4.0 v6 and get 18 to the gallon!
Jon: But...i have a 6.0 V8 that makes nearly twice the power of your v6 but only uses slightly more fuel...therefore it IS more efficient.

My question is, why do people think efficient means better gas mileage?

Why does the North/South lanes split in the cajon pass in california. Is this to make the downhill grade for semi-trucks less steep?

With the rising gas price and the amount of time it takes to drive to work and back ----- Do you think it would be more ecomomical / time-cost beneficial to move?

I'm single and don't have kids, so I have very little baggage.

This has happened to me a few times and I wasn't sure if I should have called 911 or the local (state) *HP number...

A few times, people have cut me off and made signs, threatening and even slowing down below 40 mph in total road rage. Once the guy even started crossing lanes, blocking my way, and holding me from keep my way. This happened at the very left lane and even when I was 5 miles over the speed limit.

I personally couldn't care less about their fingers or gestures, but slowing down and cutting off is just unacceptable, and especially dangerous. Is there a number that we can call to report their license plates and so?

It's amazing how cops are never around when these offenders are unleashed...

I will be driving from San Jose, CA to Austin, TX next week. I have never driven such a long distance (25 hours time) before and so I thought I could use some advice. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Other that that, I have one question. I will be driving through four states: California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I want to know how much usually is the speed limit tolerance in each of these four states. For example, in CA even though the speed limit is usually 65 mph on the freeways, people can usually drive above that limit (at 75 or 80 mph) without getting caught by cops. I heard that in AZ the speed limit is enforced more strictly. Is this true? What about TX and NM?

Thanks for any input.
