Did you know that when ARCO advertises gas for $2.55 per gallon you actualy pay $2.60 per gallon if you buy 9 gallon of gas. It is because you have to pay a .45 cent charge if you use an ATM or Credit card, Thrifty just started the same RIP OFF. Shell and Mobil dont do that.

Report this to your credit card company. Unless it's clearly posted near the point of payment (pay at the pump or at the cash register) I believe it's a violation of the agreement the company made with the credit card company. The ATM card is a horse of a different color as is a debit card. Use of either outside the issuer's network will result in a charge for usage and sometimes even in the network will result in a charge.

Arco does not take credit cards. They take debit cards. Every Arco I visit has the fee clearly posted, and some even display the charge on the card reader when you swipe your card. Remember this, nimrods, if you use a pin with your card, no matter what card it is, it is being processed as a debit card and the money comes out of your account immediately. If you do NOT use your pin, the card is being processed as a credit card, and the money does NOT come out immediately, but will be billed to your card within a day or two. All credit card companies charge a transaction fee to the fuel station, but this fee is buried in the price of the fuel. With an ATM transaction, the fee is added on where you can see it.

its not a rip off since its posted plus the machine advises you as well..-, its just cost of doing business, since even though you are using a ATM or debit card (since Arco doesn't accept Credit cards) you must enter your pin) the banks charge an transaction fee for every debit/ATM used at ARCO
Carl Jr does the exact same thing (when using a debit card)
its the same when you go to another bank thats not your bank
there you are charge "foreign ATM fee)
at least with Arco and Carl's Jr you can also get cash back
with your transaction
(and usually no ATM foreign fees)
