Logicalgal, I understand that. But where I live (and many other places in the country I have visited) there are a number of people who will actually put on their brakes and stop when they come up to a green light. Crazy I know.

Well, I think while the lights are red, drivers are looking around at other drivers or things, or taking a few seconds to think about something, take a drink, change a cd, blow their nose, etc.
When the light turns green, these drivers are still caught up in looking around, etc. for a second or two and then suddenly discover the light is green. I suppose this is "parking" as you refer to it? Heck, I think that waiting a second or two is a good thing with all the aggressive drivers running amber/red lights out there!
Im sure you have done it yourself, too......smiles
Don't get too self-righteous because you make small mistakes when you drive too.....
