Commuting

[Selected]: All categories Cars & Transportation Commuting

I commute about 30-45 minutes up Hwy 50, from Sacramento, CA to Folsom, CA every day.

This morning I witnessed yet again someone driving very dangerously and agressive. Lots of traffic and this person is weaving in and out and just about clipped my car. I ended up passing this person again and he was behind me on top of my bumper. (I have no where to go, there's traffic) once again he goes around me and crosses two lanes and almost hits another car...that person gets so pissed and then they start flipping each other off and now we have two mad people going down the freeway.

Today, I thought I should call 911 and report it since these two cars now are out of control and can kill innocent people that are just trying to get to work and take their children to school.

I'm torn because I'm like, do I want to get involved and call the police or do nothing and maybe this idiot kills someone tomorrow.

Does anyone here not have a car? If so, how do you get around? Was your lifestyle by choice or by circumstance? Do you like your car-free lifestyle?

I currently have a car, but I'm thinking of getting rid of it because it's broken down a lot in the past six months and I've shelled out a ton of money just to fix it. As a result, I don't have enough money for a new one. I live in a large city that has a decent transit system, and that makes me wonder if I should just not buy a new car at all and rely on transit to get around, along with biking, walking and occasional rides with friends. Before I make any decisions, I'd like to know your experiences.

is it really necessary and why is it difficult to avoid?
Ever wonder what drives a persons curiousity to make them slow down to a near stop on the highway when there is really nothing to 'look" at?

Apparently alot of people think the merging car has the right-of-way when entering the freeway. How many of you are under this mistaken notion?

They never show people stranded at the bus stop. Maybe because they look like bums.

I DONT MIND SPENDING MORE ON GAS IF IT WILL HELP REDUCE THE WORLDS DEPENDENCY ON MIDDLE EASTERN OIL AND THE TERROR THAT IS SUPPORTED BY MIDDLE EASTERN OIL PROFITS. WILL HIGHER GAS PRICES FORCE THE WORLD TO COME UP WITH CHEAPER, CLEANER ALTERNATIVE FUELS?

The highways where I live are always undergoing construction, in which they cause lots of patchwork so it's ridiculously bumpy. Then after several months it is almost never seems any better than it was before?
