My ex-wife, and some of her friends, are like this. Anyone know why?

Two reasons to discount Freeway Use:
There are no slow speeds to motor along looking for the hottie waiting at roadside and no secluded side streets these
two or three can offload the children into some city park so they can commence their affair anew. Freeways are about fast moves and these people aren't in a rush.

My guess would be this: Idiots driving the freeways at 75-80 mph, road raged at anyone slowing them down, going around them, etc. could be a potential hazard to a soccer moms children that are riding with her in her mini-van. So I guess in answer to your question I would have to say it's because the soccer moms have much more sense than all the other drivers out there and are protecting the future Einstein's from any harm. By the way, I am a SUV driving soccer mom myself so to all you soccer moms out there, I salute you!

I'm not a mom and don't drive minivans. ...but here's my 2 cents....
I don't like driving on freeways because of the heavy traffic and constant traffic jams. When the traffic isn't congested everyone drives 75+mph, bumper to bumper. In this area when the freeways are congested it is faster to get where you're going by using the lower roads.
