It's impressive to find a make that sells new for $50,000 can be bought used for an average of $15,000 or less, only 4 or 5 years old with good mileage. Why is that?

the cutlass is a 468 and has about 500 HP its not done yet so we're estimating what time we could get on a quarter mile track. We put a brand new suspension on the 71' Oldsmobile Cutlass 468.

I looking to buy a car that as this 4 indispensable features: comfort, good for long travels (a week or more), doesn't spend to much gas lol (as much as possible) and city handy (I don't like small cars).
I have these cars as good options for myself:
Nissan Quest or Versa or Altima , Citroën C3, Toyota Yaris or Mercedes Class A.
Unfortunately it can’t be over the budget of 27 000 dollars/euros.
I would love new ideas or opinions.

I have the opportunity to buy a 21 year old vintage, almost, Olds Calais coupe for $3,500.00. It only has 24k miles on it because a little old lady (seriously) didn't drive it much in 21 years. The radio/tape deck doesn't work, and it has the original tires. It also has a 6 cyl engine, so not sure of the gas mileage yet. I love older cars, and this one is real cute, but I don't want to make a mistake! I checked it out at www.kellybluebook.com, and top asking price is $2,000.00. Is it a good deal, or too much money? It is one of a kind.

This is a new problem and I have the car for my children to drive. I am concerned about it being safe for them. I want to have some ideas as to the reason for this before I go to a mechanic. I live in the Bahamas and car work is VERY expensive!
