The 1.8 engine is a version of the Rover K-series.

The 1.6-litre versions of the 1989-1995 (R8 model) Rover 200 and 400 had Honda 1.6-litre engines and Honda transmissions.

I think early 1.6-litre automatic versions of the 1995-1999 Rover 400 also had Honda engines, while all manual versions had Rover eingines. This is probably why someone thought you might have a Honda engine.

The 1995-1999 Rover 200 (R3 model) and the 1999-2005 Rover 25 that it became were never fitted with Honda engines.

You can easily tell the difference by opening the bonnet - the Honda engines sit on the right of the engine bay (when viewed from the front, the left from inside the car), with the battery and transmission on the right, while Rover engines (like almost everyone else's) sit on the left (right as viewed from inside), with the battery and transmission on the right.

What year? Rover were owned by BMW for a short period of time, in which they designed and made the 75 (First of the 2 digit breed) Although the Chassis and body design of 25/45 were the same as the 200/400 series, they had some minor improvements influenced by BMW, and engineered by Rover. Hence the new Mini not being a Rover but a BMW not as originally planned (design was meant for Rover).

So in short, the 25 is more BMW than Honda (Honda lost the contract Mid-Late 90's) and it is in fact actually a Rover Engine.

Rover was taken over by honda during the late 80's, so pretty much all rover engines were made by them from that point onwards.

feels like the air inlet manafold is getting opened too lots. this could be the end results of a broken seal it extremely is increasing whilst warm and so letting too lots air into the engine, or might desire to be led to by capacity of a sticky spring. because it purely happens whilst warm it extremely is something undemanding. gasoline pump, eu and so on can all be ruled out as they might supply difficulty all the time, it extremely is that somthing is increasing interior the warmth and inflicting a injury interior the seals someplace. do no longer difficulty with a Rover broking back if I have been you, attempt a community mechanic, ideally one that specialises in gasoline structures. purely mechanics i've got come for the time of that are extra hopeless than Rover adult men are Volvo mechanics!!! maximum of them are re-formed church leaders!!!
