1. block heater in the freeze-out plug? or
2. Heater spliced into the lower radiator hose?
The freeze out plug may be very difficult to get out of a 20 year old car. I like the idea of the lower hose heater but not sure if it would be as effective.
Thanks, from Vito V.

I have a 1992 300CE with the 3.0 DOHC motor(standard 300E came with SOHC 3.0L).

The best I can get is 21-23 MPG, and I was wondering what are some numbers others are getting in terms of MPG(any year from 86-2006)

Thanks!

I have ridden in Mercedes, but never driven one. Why does anyone buy one. The two I have ridden in both seemed like pieces of junk; one - a "C" class seemed like a $15K compact car. The other - a big, new one (700 series?) actually leaked on me! It was raining out and water came through the ceiling light!

Consumer Reports always ranks them low on quality and reliability and whenever I see one I can't help but think, "There goes a FOOL who paid too much for their car!" - so much for status!

Maybe Mercedes used to say "affluence", but the message these days is "Old Geeser On Board Who Overpaid For An Unreliable Car"

And don't get me started on Mercedes SUVs and Wagons - absolutely laughable that someone would associate status, style, reliability, or performance with these! Ha!

So, Mercedes owners - are you aware that for every person that admires your car, there is another who laughs at you? Why are you willing to pay so much for a car that is passe' and unreliable?

You one please tell me how to change the wiper motor on my 94 ´C220 Merceds. I just stopped working. Fuses are ok, Screenwash still works. Motor seems to be blocked or broken. After 2 weeks not moving the car the wiper moved 2 cm when switched on - then dead again! I don´t need advice that I should go to a mechanic - thanks, thats the backup plan. How can I safely remove the covers and get access to the motor? Are there any tricks to think of? Thanks for your help.

I've got a 1996 C220. The A/C recently quit working. I've got a buddy who is a certified A/C tech who is willing to check it out but we can't find the low-side service port. We found the high-side port tucked away behind the fan guard but the low-side port has been elusive. Any Benz techs out there who know where the low side port is? Thanks!

First of all: I love this car! I bought it a week ago, after a twenty-year love affair with the W123 body style. It's from the south, so no rot, runs and rides great, and is FUN! All electrical works, great looking, all my boys drool.
Biggest problem: the day after I bought it, it wouldn't shut off after it was turned off. Pressing STOP is ok when it's August, but it's getting cold, and will get old fast. Where to start?
Next biggest: trans leak. It leaked almost a quart on a day trip yesterday, all expwy@70/75, 21mpg. I decided today to try staying @60 or under - not one drop! And 30.7mpg! I dropped the trans pan, replaced filter, and topped off with AMSOil ATP. It doesn't look wet anywhere but pan gasket and lower, can't see where it could be leaking from when heavy accel.
Next: odo froze@164k. Speedo works fine.
Next: even in the blue range, heat is HOT!
Next: driver door key goes in lock, but lock will not turn.; pass lock turns, but won't lock.
Last: doggy - no turbo?

up my mind about the cost of this car, it has been owned by a older lady that got it new in 83 she only drove on the innerstate roads to and from the city where she worked each day.latter she bought a new one when hers had 220.000 miles a local man i know has the car and while on a trip he stoped at a mercedes dealer for service they made a mistake with the oil line and later the engine was replaced with a new one turbo and all, at this time the new motor has 45.000 miles on it, the car is black / tan inside the inside on a- 1 to 10 scale -is a 8--- the outside is a -9 - top to bottom a very nice car with 0% rust , the owner has now had a stroke and wishes to sell the car he wants $4000.00 no less. as i said its a nice car with good looks and a sun roof to boot, but when i see that model on ebay for under $2000,,,, i worry its way over priced, i would like some more information on this one, if anyone could take the time i would really happy to know more, thanks so much

body not much rust with very nice trim overall, runs and drive's very well, i'm wondering should i take the time to make the car even nicer by painting the body and repairing the seat and headliner, as well as the carpets, is this diesel model of the mercedes, a minumum value car, with not much resale value latter down the road, what do you think? also if any of you have ever purchased any after market body weather seals or replacment headliner's could you tell me about any affordable source's for such things, i have never restored a mercedes and have no parts leads on them at this time, THANKS for any help on this matter.
