I've got a 1996 C220. The A/C recently quit working. I've got a buddy who is a certified A/C tech who is willing to check it out but we can't find the low-side service port. We found the high-side port tucked away behind the fan guard but the low-side port has been elusive. Any Benz techs out there who know where the low side port is? Thanks!

Based on my ownership of an older model (1984 "190E") and observation of several other old & recent models, I noticed that the Hi-side service port is "relatively" located at an oppositelocation to the Lo-side port. I cannot confirm that as a fact on Mercedes cars, but at least you can use it as a guide for localizing your search. Also try to look low and into those hidden areas where you think someone would least place the port (sounds odd huh?). A useful tip is always to trace the gas lines as they sapn their way through the engine bay. One of the 190E's ports is mounted high-&-visible on the drivers side of the engine bay, while the other one is at the other -relative- opposite side (not too far behind the right headlamp area). Happy hunting.

seem on the firewall on the passenger area for 2 aluman. pipes about a million/2 inch in diam. you'll see a plastic cap that would favor to be blue in colour which will unscrew and prepare the low area. this setting up works like a short-coupler utilized in garages which have air equipment. you pull the ring and push on and it locks, pull the ring back and it pops off the setting up. the intense area of your gadget is interior the front of your vw, so stay remote from there. make confident that your electric powered fan also kicks on.with the a/c on
