Wait 24 hours and try again. The radio does NOT need to be left turned on, but the battery must remain connected and the radio must not be removed from the car. If power is removed from the radio it will start the 24 hour lockout cycle all over again.
Re-coding those old Blaupunkt radios is possible in most cases but the charge is outrageous as it needs to be sent off to an authorized Blaupunkt service facility. And you have to provide proof of ownership to get it serviced.

I'm speaking from memory, so I may be wrong....
I think, when it says WAIT, someone has put in too many wrong codes and it went into LOCKOUT mode. You have to keep the radio powered ON and wait 8 or 24 hours before you can enter the new code. I seem to recall you need to keep the radio powered for this to happen.

If you don't have the radio code you need to pull the radio and call a dealer with the numbers to get the code. Then you'll have to leave the radio powered on for about an hour, then recode it.

i own a 1999 320 ml,and it had the same problem,u have to open the code in order to let it be on again,go to a qualified auto electrician and for 40 $ he will open the code and it will work
