Mileage of 300CE/300E?

I have a 1992 300CE with the 3.0 DOHC motor(standard 300E came with SOHC 3.0L).

The best I can get is 21-23 MPG, and I was wondering what are some numbers others are getting in terms of MPG(any year from 86-2006)

stepdad had an 88, but it only got 18-20mpg
