Oh yes!!!! It'll fry many of the electrical parts, including the computer.
If you have already done it, just do it again....CORRECTLY this time. If it starts and runs, you got lucky. If it doesn't, you're probably in for some major repairs.

You mean if you reversed their position, right? When you "misplace" something, you lose it. If you lost the clamps, nothing would happen since you couldn't hook the battery up at all.
If you hook a battery up backwards, you will probably do quite a bit of damage. You can blow the diodes in the alternator, as well as fry the computer control systems.
Batteries outgas hydrogen which is highly explosive. The spark from hooking it up backwards could cause the battery to explode and spray you with sulphuric acid. If that gets in your eyes, you could be permanently blinded almost instantly. For this reason you should always wear face and eye protection anytime you work on a battery.

it can cause serious damage not only to the car and battery but to you as well. An exploding battery could cover you in acid.

WHAT IT DOES IS CALLED REVERSE POLARIZATION OF THE BATTERY,IN MOST CARS THERE IS A FUSE THAT WILL BLOW TO MINIMIZE THE DAMAGE BUT IN SOME IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE IT IS VERY UNLIKELY TO MAKE IT EXPLODE UNLESS IT IS A DAMAGED BATTERY THAT IS LEAKING GASSES ,THEY ARE VERY EXPLOSIVE SO YOU DO WANT TO BE CAREFUL IN HOW YOU HOOK-UP JUMPER CABLES

You will almost certainly cause serious damage to various electronic and electrical systems.
Did you actually do this?

Most likely your negative posilator will short out the positive negilator and cause an explosion and fire. Run
