I have a '01 Dodge Dakota 4dr SLT. I want to run second sound system to a box in the bed of the truck. But I want to use the existing c/d player and radio. Also, I want to put a switch on it to go from the speakers outside to the ones inside. First off, is this realistically possible? Second, what is the best approach to adding the second set of speakers (2- 6 1/2in and a sub) to the existing system?

Thank you for your help

Ok i had my wiring and all that professionally installed then i sold that and bought a new system and im quite positive i have everything hooked up correctly. My subs started hitting for a minute then they just stopped? I dont know what is going on with that i checked if any wires were loose.

Also, What should i have my amp set at..i know the crossover should be liek 80-100hz but i have no idea about the gain..subsonic filter..slope or even what most of it means.

My cap did not come with a resisotr or a light bulb, It has a built in voltmeter with digital reader. Can I sumply connect the system as if I were about to use it but not turn on the system. Let the circuit basically remain closed but not turning on the audio system to so there isn't a sudden rush of power. The current rush would be slower as the amp isn't using any power.

I have come down to two amps the RF P8002 or the RF P10002. The P3D4 subs carry a 500 watt rms! The P8002 puts out 400 watts rms and the P10002 puts out 500 watts rms. But i was told that the P10002 might pull too much power and kill your battery. What do you guys think would be the best amp for my two rockfords P3D4 (Dual 4 ohm voice coals).
I drive a 2000 pontiac grand am!

Hi all, i just purchased a pair of Kingwood 1000Watt car speakers (6x9) from ebay.

Ive told a couple of people and theyve really put me off
because they say i need a 2000watt amp with it.
and also they say its way too much and it can ruin the car ( the battery of the car and something else)
so now im thinking of getting rid of them.
is this all true though? and also does that mean they are 1000watts each? or 500watts each?

i have a 10" cerwin vega stroker that is 4000 watts max at 2 ohms with dual voice coils. theres 2 mono amps that i have narrowed it down to but im not sure which one will be best.
the first one is an EARTHQUAKE PHD5000W and heres the specs:

Variable Low Pass Filter: 20hz - 200kHz
Built-in variable 24dB/oct low pass-filter
Two independent low level RCA inputs
4-gauge power connection
8-gauge speaker connection

the second is a PYLE PLAD3300D and the specs:
1x1800W RMS at 2 Ohms
1x3600W MAX at 1.3 Ohms
1 Ohm Stereo Stable
MOSFET Power Supply
PWM (Pulse-Width-Modulated) System
Variable Low pass Filter (50Hz~150Hz,24dB/Octave)
Variable Subsonic Filter (15Hz~40Hz,24dB/Octave)
Input Impedance:10K Ohms
THD: <0.1%.
S/N Ratio: >90dB
Input Sensitivity : 200mV ~8V
Freq. Response : 15Hz ~ 150KHz

I have a Pioneer DEH-6 stereo. Recently, my amplifier seemed to loss bass so I sent it off to be fixed (it is under warranty). After diconnecting it and sending it off, I discovered my stereo wasn't putting out any bass at all. I checked all wiring, and everything is fine. I recently discovered that if I set my balance all the way left or right, the bass kicks in, but otherwise it is non-existent. My balance range is 0-9. If I set it to R9 or L9, the bass works, but it gets lower the closer I get to 0. At 0, it goes out completely. I hooked up another amp I got from a friend, and it wasn't putting out much bass. If I set the stereo to L9 or R9, it booms. I also tried replacing the fuse and that didn't help. Can anybody help me with this? Does anybody know?

if a sub is rated @ 400 watts rms, it doesn't matter how many ohms the load is that you're running to the amp, the sub is STILL 400 watts RMS right? I read differently somewhere and I thought it didn't sound right so I'm just checking. THANKS

Whenever i turn up my sound and my sub start to hit out bass, my lights dim. Is this because of low battery power or because of a less powerful amplifier. If i buy a better amp, will it stop dimming? Or should i change the three grounding wires? If so, please explain the steps to me.

I don't want the bells and whistles and great screen, I just want to know what is best for the sound quality, and a decent price would be good too. Also one that has great control over the system, thanks!

PS. to be used with amps, not powering with the head unit.

An amp doubles your wattage when u drop the omhs, but the subwoofer can take less wattage when run at an lower omhs. if there is a 1000 watt 4 ohm voice coil, then when wired to 2 ohms, it can take 500 omhs, when wired down to 1 ohm, it can only take 250 watts @ 1 ohm. A 500 rms wattage sub, with two 4 ohm voice coils, has : two 250 watt 4 ohm voice coils, when wired to 2 ohms, each coil can only handle 125 watts, when dropped to 1 ohm, each coil can only handle 62.5 watts.

I found this somewhere on the the net....my problem is I have 3 SVC 4 ohm subs wired as a 1.34 ohm load (parallel i think)..and I have a 1 ohm stable amp. The question is: If my subs are rated at 400 watts rms and they are 4 ohm SVC, will they still be rated at 400 watts rms even though they will be wired as a 1.34 ohm load?? I thought that if a sub is rated @ 400 watts rms, it doesn't matter how many ohms the load is that you're running to the amp, the sub is STILL 400 watts RMS..
