There is NO reason to pay alot for car audio, expecially if you just want it a little louder.
I hate to say it, but Wal-Mart.

The brand sold there, Lightning Audio, is manufactured by Rocfford Fosgate (yes, really). You can get 6x9's or 6 1/2's for about $35 a pair -awesome price. You can also get 12's for $40. They have a 300wrms amp for $75.
A friend of mine had a pair of 6x9's and 2 12's. The 6x9's got 100wrms apiece and the subs got 350wrms. It was loud AND clear. VERY good for the dough.

Get 2 pairs of speakers, $70 total
1 12" woofer, $40
1 300wrms amp, $75
1 12" sub box, like $25
Shop around for an Alpine CD player. You can find one on sale for about $125.

The total comes to, $335! Not Bad. Throw in some wiring ($30, don't go TOO cheap on this) and the total minus tax and hurting fingertips from stripping wires and you'll need
$365, WOW!

Good Luck!
