How do the XM car radios plug into your car?

For power, they just use a standard cigarette lighter outlet. For the audio, you can use an auxiliary input if equipped, a cassette adapter, or all satellite radios have a built-in FM modulator. Unfortunately the FCC recently required the FM modulators to be crippled, so I haven't seen any cars where you'll get a good sound with the built-in modulator alone. You may have to get an auxiliary input adapter if your vehicle's radio supports it, or something called an FM-direct adapter if your radio doesn't have a cassette player or an aux input capability.

they are picked up by your in-car stereo radio as they 'broadcast' the info at a short distance, usually 3-4 feet. I think so, not totally sure.
