I'm looking to purchase a 2006 Honda Civic EX coupe and I've been negogiating with the salesman. I'm using my own financing and putting $4000 down. I tell him that I want to purchase title and license myself at DMV (why finance something that I can do myself?). I've also been told that dealers attach their own fees for the convenience of doing this at the dealership. After checking with the salesmanager, he tells me that by law, I'm not allowed to purchase this myself. He says that, by law, the purchase of title and license has to go through the dealership for cars that are financed or have a lien. Does anyone know if this is true?

Do any try to give you a fair deal when you buy a car or are they out to get all they can out of your pocket? I know you should reseach all you can before buying. How about service departments- are we at their mercy? Is there a way to check on prices other than getting a second opinion?

I know one is a SUV and the other a Coupe but I just can't decide. I really like the roomy feeling of the QX but i'm wooried that I'll look to over the top. The Lexus is smart look but it's a car. My car got a parking lot bumper ding weeks before I am planning to sell it. Is it better to sell as is, reducing the value, or is it better to repair the bumper first. I am planning to sell it to private owner not to dealership. Before the ding, my car 2002 Mazda Protege, was in good plus condition and very low mileage.
