The fairly new OB starts to stall at top speed and most recenlty at 1/2 speed.. I changed the plugs & fuel line, added carb cleaner no luck. The water pump is working fine. I use it every weekend and use 89 octane gas with synthetic 2 cycle oil. Any thoughts?

Today when I put it in reverse to back my sailboat into her slip, the motor jumped up out of the water. Why did this happen? Also after that, it didn't really seem like reverse worked unless the throttle was turned all the way down almost to idle. It kind of freaked me out.

What is the best kayak to get?
Ok I have kayaked before but basically you can call me a beginner. I am looking to use the kayak for multiple things, not just fishing or small paddles. I would use it for fishing, long trips, short trips but moslty in the bay/ocean because I dont have any rivers/lakes where I live. Now what I need in a kayak is storage space, great stability in waves, enough room to be comfortable for long voyages and faster if possible. What kayak based on my needs would be suitable for me. Also I want to keep the price lower than 1500. I know some of these things can caost around 5 grand. It can be made out of plastic, kevlar, wood but I dont and inflatable ones. Hope you can help. Thanks. Any further questions you have which will help you better answer this question ask them and I will just post the answer for you.

I'm rewiring my boat and would like to know if I could use a 16 gage wire from electronic store. I'll be rewiring the volt gauges, switch boards and lights. I just want to make sure I get wire that is big enough. Thanks!

Just bought a 1977 70hp Johnson that runs good. I want to service EVERYTHING to ensure it stays running good. What should I replace and service on it? Pumps, oils, everything! I don't know much about outboards so please be specific as possible. I have a boat mechanic, I just want to tell him what I want done. Tax time so money isn't the issue! Thanks for all your help!

Is the PLACE where you tie your boat up, if it's an extension of the land out to sea, a manmade structure, is it called a jetty?

What are the post things called that you tie your boat up to? I mean the things you wrap and tie the ropes around?

Any help at all will be very gratefully received. I'm writing a fictional book about pirates, among other things, and am just a tad bit stuck. To be honest I know nothing about boats. With most things, I can just write anything and people tend to just generally accept it. But with this, well its basic stuff and I just don't have a clue.
