Using sail alone, providing conditions were favourable (I'm only after a rough estimate, eg, three days, a fortnight, a month etc etc). Depart Bristol arrive New York (just for reference).

I'm illustrating a short story for someone and they want to know how long (roughly) such a journey should take for the sake of realim, west England to East Coast US (or vice-versa), most direct route.

Thanks!

Go and check out the containers for BMW bikes and such, considering that what ever drifts ashore the public are entitled to keep, even though there is a 'supposed' toxic waste scare attatched to this activity? I would.

Bad news though about the contamination from the oil.

I need to know a few things if anyone can help.
without sounding silly what is the best way to make power ?
on board the engine will provide a supply 12 volt like a car. but i want to fit 13 amp like in a house so i can run my pc on a boat and microwave , heater etc.
all of these need high wattage so 12 volt won't do.
I was thinking about buying a petrol/deisel generater, i would need one that puts out around 3000 watts i would think as heaters pc etc a power hungry and like wattage. Now is this the best thing to do? i would want a silent running and economical one. This could end up being pricey if i use i all the time .
I also would need the wireing and a breaker fitted but this is'nt hard i should'nt think.
is there a better way. and is it true some marinas have 13 amp supply ( those big blue plugs 3 phase you see) and just plug in my boat when i moor up.
so i would not need generator.
and is there any other advice about living on a boat anyone can tell me please.
thanks.

We will soon be getting a 33 ft. sports cruiser. We have NEVER owned a boat! We are extremely excited, however, I have hidden anxities. Yes we will be taking driving lessons and safety courses. The feedback I'd like to get here would be advice. Maybe someone has ideas and/or facts that we should do or have being 1st time boat owners, things that you didn't know before owning a boat. We also will be taking our beagle with us. Any advice from boat & pet owners? How do we handle when he has to go to the bathroom? Basically, I'm looking for words of wisdom, words of precautionary advice and anything you can offer. With sincere thanks... Ahoy mate!

I'm thinking about buying a powerboat in 1 to 2 years. In the meantime I want to learn all I can about what to look for in a boat as well as the terminology involved. I know a thing or two about boating basics but still consider myself a newbie to it.

I'm interested in "big water" boating much more than speed boating and sailboating isn't really my thing either.
