If you have a motor that you blew up or froze, unbolt everything you can from it and keep the carb, valve covers, flame arrestor, and everything you can. You can then order a "long block" from any engine rebuilder, scrapyard etc. Just make sure you buy a GM TRUCK MOTOR and nothing else. Dont let a mechanic sell you a car engine (car engines are '2-bolt mains" and trucks all have 4-bolt mains.) you WILL blow up a car engine quickly.

do you need the complete engine? it won't matter about the '88 part. a complete engine w/carb. from Merc is fairly expensive. if you will accept a used engine, go online under used outboard engines. lots of sites. don't use an automotive engine, it can't take the rpm a marine engine can.
