I am looking for a company that makes fairly large boats that are able to go out to sea, are somewhat luxurious, that I can fish off of, and could hold a fair amount of people.

We would like to travel the world for approximately a year by sailing to various destinations. I realize there are people that sail their entire lives and never do something like this, but I really want to know if it is possible and the best way to go about it. How long will it take my husband and I to learn everything we need to know about the ocean, sailing, and so on until we would be capable of such a venture?

Some relevant info:
-We live in the USA and are both in our late twenties.
-Neither one of us has any experience in sailing at the present time.
-We are both in good shape and absolutely love to travel.
-We are currently 4 hours from the ocean but might consider a relocation to make this dream a reality. If it's easier just assume that we will move to a coastal community.
-Budget for a boat is likely in the neighborhood of $100-$150K. This is a very soft estimate because I really do not know how much you SHOULD spend.

Thank you for any information on this.

I have a historic sail boat... southcoast 25, first one ever built. I'm restoring it to orriginal condition, but I have a problem. it's infested with many many generations of spiders. I think there are about 50 varieties and all feeding on eachother. Before I begin restoration, these inbred things need to go or be killed. any good suggestions on how to exterminate these things on a boat? I find them nesting in the sails, the fore decks, in the planking of the cabin, the bilge, engine hatch, gear lockers, everywhere!

I want to build a submarine that I can actually go inside and control, powered either manually or with some kind of motor. What is the best and cheapest way to do this?

I have a Mercury 150 outboard that won't shift into gear. I took the throttle cables off and they move fine (forward and backward). Then I reconnected and I can only get the boat to go in gear in reverse. Forward is very difficult to even push and when it does it only throttles up - no power. What are some of the things it could be?

Its always puzzled me even when i was a kid.
What if a ship is 200 tonnes and the anchor is only 2 tonnes how does it stop it moving.
Surely the anchore only falls to the bottom of the sea bed and lays on top of the sea bed. It doesnt anchor itself into the sea bed does it! come on.
so how does it work please?
