Your speed in Knots would be 38.2 or to be exact 38.233866
1 mph is equal to 0.86895149 knot.
You should be able to change your settings on your GPS to display speed in knots. Check your users Manual.
I hope this answers your Question

Knots are calculated by (#)mph x 7 /8.
So, in your case, 44mph x 7 /8 = 38.5 knots.

Go into the GPS setup menu and change the speed setting from MPH to Knots then you wont have to do conversions or ask how to do them.

That's 38 Knots.
Also your boat GPS should be able to display speed in knots rather than MPH if you prefer, check your user manual.
If not, theres a handy speed converter online at http://www.convertthis.com/converters/speed.aspx
Hope this helps

1 knot = 1 nautical mile per hour = 6076 feet per hour
1 mph =1 mile per hour = 5280 feet per hour
44 mph = 5280 x 44 = 232320 feet per hour
232320 / 6076 = 38.24 knots
That's enough maths 4 one day
