I'm doing my heritage fair on the ocean ranger and i need some pictures of the rig, a diagram of the ballast control system and a list of the victims. If you have the list, could you please write it ? Or also a link to any of the above would be great. Thanks everyone!

I'm from MI and a salesman up here is telling me to buy new and avoid used saltwater boats like the plague. Problem is, I could knock a couple hundred grand off the boat I'm looking for if I buy it in FL. I'm looking at a 2005 Meridian 459 with about 50 hours on diesel engines.

I'm wondering if I'm just being paranoid here about saltwater boats being awful compared to freshwater. For my purposes, I don't need the boat to last 20 years and frankly, I'm probably going to move down to FL in a couple years anyway.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thank you,
Tim

I know I've seen it before, but I cant remember what particular south-eastern asian country it was in. I believe it is a kind of fishing boat, however I could be completely mistaken. It is typically covered by a short roof. Top down it looks like a rectangle (fairly long, and some-what wide), and from the sides it looks like a thin half oval. I can't find any photos of it at the moment.

For the record, we already know pretty much how we are going to build it (for a card-board/duct-tape boat project) but we want to find some photos to refer to for coloring and certain features, mainly the shape and construction of the roof, to keep authenticity.

Have a 2001 50 hp. Merc. outboard on a 17 ft Tracker. At full throttle, I have very little power (barely moving above no wake speeds). RPMs are up and engine sounds fine but can't get enough power to get on plane. Can this be a fuel problem or is it mechanical (prop) problem?
