Seriously. Wood is the easiest product to use but you can also do it with glass fibre and resin if you want to take the time to build a mold. If you are only looking to build a boat for a one time use in a competition then you can use cardboard and duct tape, but to make it disintegrate more slowly, I would suggest coating it either with marine grade varnish or epoxy resin.

Wood is the best material for boatbuilding because it's an easy material to work, and can be covered with layers of fiberglass, epoxy, and paint.
