I have a 1974 Mercury 110, 9.8 HP, that stalls intermittently. It just "shuts off" at any speed (randomly) and generally will resart with one pull of the starter. The in-line fuel bulb stays hard, I don't have to pump it to restart the engine. Seems to get somewhat worse the longer it's run. IMHO, it feels like an electrical cut-out (I'm an auto tech, understand engines, but not much experience with outboards) Has all new fuel lines and pump bulb, plugs, and new points?(dealer installed, thought it was CDI) Runs great otherwise, just randomly quits with no warning. Any help would be appreciated, TIA!!

hello everyone, I was wondering if I can get some answers and tips on these questions:

1. when you get the boat out of salt water and on the trailor, do you have to wash the boat right away or you can wait until you get home?

2. do you have to wash the inside? or only if water got in there, then you have to wash it?

3. do you have to run clean water through the engine right away too?

any other tips you can think of regarding washing the vesel please give them.... :) thanks and happy boating1

Is there any sort of product which can be ran through the water passages on a 1983 envirude 75 to clean them out rather then having to dissasemble the motor? I was thinking about using the seafoam oil treatment i figure itd be fine in the water jacket but will it hurt the pump? If theres no other solution then break down how hard is it? The boat belongs to a friend and he says he has breakdowns on the whole thing, i was an auto/small motor mechanic for 5 years but this is my first out board so any help would be appreciated

thanx=)

It was fantastic espeacially when we put it on a fast spin, talk about 'Zoom Zoom'.The problem however, was when we put it on a 'D' wash. We were up & down that bloody river for 1 1/2 hours before it finished. Has anyone got any ideas on how we can stop?
